vporiadku is our invoicing and bookkeeping product for businesses in Slovakia. This year almost every conversation with its users comes back to one date: 1 January 2027. This post explains what changes, what vporiadku can do today, and what is not finished yet.

What changes in 2027

Slovakia is introducing mandatory electronic invoicing in two steps:

  • From 1 January 2027, VAT payers must use e-invoicing for domestic business-to-business and business-to-government sales, and data from e-invoices is reported to the Financial Administration.
  • From 1 July 2030, the obligation extends to cross-border sales within the EU, in line with the EU's VAT in the Digital Age package.

The European Commission summarises these dates on its eInvoicing in Slovakia page. The legal text is Act No. 385/2025 Coll. (Slov-Lex), and the Financial Administration publishes guidance and an FAQ on its own site (financnasprava.sk).

What counts as an e-invoice

An e-invoice is not a PDF sent by email. It is a structured XML file that the recipient's software can read without a person:

  • EN 16931 is the European standard that defines which data an invoice contains;
  • UBL 2.1 is the XML syntax vporiadku uses to write it;
  • Peppol is the network that delivers it, a little like email for business documents, through certified access points;
  • in Slovakia the delivery service also passes the invoice data on to the Financial Administration, which is why people call it the five-corner model.

What vporiadku does today

  • The UBL builder and validator work: vporiadku builds invoices as UBL 2.1 documents following EN 16931 and the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 profile, and checks them against the rules before they leave.
  • It reads incoming e-invoices: upload a UBL file and vporiadku turns it into an expense and archives the original for ten years.

What is still in testing

Sending through the real Peppol network does not work yet. No document from vporiadku has been delivered through the production network so far. vporiadku does not run its own certified access point and does not plan to; it connects through a certified Slovak delivery provider. On 13 October 2026 the integration completed its first full run in that provider's sandbox on the Peppol test network: a document was sent, delivered and confirmed, and an incoming one was picked up. Our target for sending in production is the fourth quarter of 2026, and customers will get e-invoice output together with it.

Automatic receipt of invoices from the network works the same way: it runs in the sandbox and goes live together with sending.

Reporting invoice data to the Financial Administration is not something vporiadku files itself. Under the Slovak rules that apply from 2027, the delivery service passes the data on when it delivers the e-invoice.

What you can do now

  • Make sure your invoicing software can produce and read structured e-invoices, not only PDFs.
  • Every business chooses its e-invoice delivery provider on the Financial Administration's portal. Nobody can do that step for you, so plan time for it.
  • If you invoice in vporiadku, the e-invoicing settings screen shows the status of each of your companies, step by step.

We will update this post when sending goes live. Until then we would rather tell you exactly where we are than promise a date we do not control.
